England's deepest lake, Wastwater is a simply amazing place to go canoeing, though on a wet and gloomy day it is a thoroughly intimidating place and caution is required. When the sun is out though, and the wind is mild, Wastwater must be one of the most spectacular places to be afloat in a canoe or kayak, surrounded by stunning hills and mountains. Being on the west side of the Lake District and harder to get to, Wastwater is quieter than the better known lakes, and there are no motor boats and yachts.
