Canoeing and Kayaking on : River Taf

Paddle Point
St Clears, Carmarthenshire, UK

This is a tidal bit of river and it is best to put on at the slipway in Lower St Clears at the top of the tide and when HW is above 5.9 metres - otherwise it can be a bit muddy. The trip is simple just follow the river downstream. The first couple of miles are meandering but past the Sea Scout hut at Brixtarw (west bank) the river opens out. There is a lovely paddle under the woods just before Dylan Thomas Boathouse. Head for the Red Marker that indicates the passage into the slip way at Laugharne. Free parking but can be busy in the summer
